I was talking with Miss Fuzzy Bunny, a known latex fetishist, whose love of latex has dipped over into exploring vacbed play. Vacbeds are large latex bags stretched over rectangular shaped PVC piping, which a person can get inside of. There are usually breathing holes with optional tubes and gas mask attachments to use while inside. A vacuum pump is connected and the air is sucked out making it a great way to encase someone's whole body. Latex is ideal because it's a flexible material that conforms to the shape of the body, and feels wonderful on the skin.

I asked Miss Fuzzy Bunny a few questions about what it was like and what she thought.

What was the experience of being in the vacbed like? What did you feel?

It's mostly peaceful for me. Time sort of stops or changes, and it's almost like deep meditative time. I've never been able to feel too much, other than slight pressure where the suction pulls the latex. It's not uncomfortably tight, the times I've been in a vacuum bed, but all my experiences have been in conventional floor models. The standing ones can become quite uncomfortable I've seen, because there's much more suction all around the body and especially the head--lots of pressure!

Could you move around at all? What did you use for breathing?

Not much! Occasionally I can move my fingers slightly.

The models I've tried had holes for breathing. The first one had a hole with a rubber tube that went through it that I breathed through. I didn't really like that experience because it was a communal vacuum bed, and all I could think about was all the saliva that's passed through the tube before me--yuck! The other thing that made it less than ideal was the tube is separate from the hole, and didn't seem secure enough to me.

I had a very unpleasant experience in an otherwise lovely transparent bed designed by a hardcore rubberist. There was ONE tiny breathing hole--smaller than a loose-leaf notebook hole punch--for the breathing hole, which had to be arranged over the user's mouth. I suppose if you were into breath play it would be ideal. Had I been able to relax and just follow my breathing, I think it could have been an intense experience, but I never got to that level, and panicked after maybe 15 seconds, maximum!

My latest experience in LatexCult.com's bed was the most positive, and I think a lot of that had to do with the construction of the bed and the breathing apparatus. It was a properly constructed and reinforced opening, which was fitted with a breathing mask. It felt completely secure and I didn't give a second thought to the construction failing. Definitely a plus for anyone slightly apprehensive about trying!

Was anything done to you? What was the setting like?

Most of my experiences have been in clubs or at conventions/shows. My first experience was at Kinky Copenhagen in front of a crowd. My boyfriend (now husband) stroked and caressed me while I was under it. My most recent experience was with Britta of LatexCult.com, using a vacuum bed with a penis sheath, which we used for my strap on. She rode me and used her giant Hitachi wand on me, but I couldn't feel too much, as everything was a bit too tight for the proper sensations that I generally have with a vibrator. At the end she peed onto the vacuum bed, which was fun, as I could definitely feel the warmth of the pee through the transparent latex. I think the gauge was probably .33.

Did you have a way to communicate?

I was always audible and definitely made my feelings known, especially with the tiny pinhole model. There was no mistaking my screams for anything other than terror. I believe I actually screamed, "Get me out! Get me out!"

What was your most memorable experience? How did it affect you afterward?

The pinprick hardcore vacuum bed was definitely scary. It was also scary afterwards imagining what could go wrong. I also fantasized about the first bed I used, the one with the rubber hose and hole, imagining what could have happened if it came out during a session.

I tend to be rather morbid, though. In truth, I was completely safe and under supervision during every experience in a vacuum bed.

Would you ever get into a vacbed again?

Oh yes! I really like the clear ones; I think they are so sexy looking. I'd also like to experience one with an attached gasmask, I think. I'm less enamored of the standing models, though, and doubt I'll have the urge to experience one of them.

Do you have any suggestions for people interested in playing with vacbeds?

Start off with someone you trust, obviously. Choose a model with a larger breathing opening for your first time. It may make you feel less nervous if you observe others the first time before getting in yourself.

Never ever play unassisted, even if it means asking a platonic friend to supervise. The embarrassment of coming out to a friend with your fetish is miniscule compared to being found 4 days later by a neighbor or a coroner!
