Foot fetish, also known as podophilia, is one of the most common fetishes. The attraction to feet can include the shape and size of the feet and toes, treatments, state of dress and odor. It is more common for males both homo and hetero to have foot fetishes. People with foot fetishes will often get off on seeing, touching, licking, tickling, kissing or even smelling another person’s feet. Foot fetish is also a very popular genre in porn and traces of foot worship can be seen in many films from amateur to feature. A similar fetish is aretifism, which is the sexual attraction to people who are barefoot.

A foot fetish can be a safe and healthy form of sexual play. In fact many researches have hypothesized that foot fetishism increases as a response to epidemics of sexually transmitted diseases. One study showed an increased interest in foot fetishism during the syphilis epidemics of the 16th and 19th centuries in Europe.
