[edit] Safety Concerns
Safety can be a major concern with the fetishes involved in this type of play. Often use of a safeword is implemented. The words “no” and “stop” are not used as safe words considering that they are normally part of a scene. A safe word would be something abnormal like “red light” or a random word chosen that is agreed upon before the session. Care should be taken in any BDSM scenario depending on what tool is being used in a scene. Having some kind of training in first aid could prove useful just in case. There is a chance of getting an STD or blood borne disease through play even if sexual contact isn’t happening, so care should be taken to keep toys clean. Not being under the influence of alcohol or drugs is important as well to keep the bottom from feeling pain that could be severely destructive and so that a top will keep composure. The subject should be easily releasable from any position at all times. Eating before a scenario is important, it can keep the submissive from fainting. A person should never be left alone for a long period of time if restrained.
- Safe, Sane, and Consensual~ (SSC) Attempts should be made not to risk a person’s health in any way. Any type of play should be done with a sane and clear mind. Both parties should give full consent before anything can take place.
- Risk-Aware Consensual Kink~ (RACK) Thought is given to risk involved. Awareness is made of the activities and risks involved. Agreement is made to carry the actions out. Alternative sex is involved. This is pretty much the same as SSC, but taking into consideration edge play.
